This watch was made by the American Waltham Watch Company of Waltham, Massachusetts. It is an 18 size, Model #1879 [named after the first year of production], "Appleton, Tracy & Co." Grade, with 15 jewels. It is stem wind and lever set, and is housed in a nice triple-hinged gold-filled case [warranted 25 years]. The serial number of 1,768805 dates it to about 1881. This was the first antique pocket watch I ever bought. and I have held onto it over the years primarily for sentimental reasons.
