This is a fantastic English sterling silver pair-cased verge fusee in excellent running condition! The hallmarks date it to 1776, making this officially my oldest pocket watch. The watch itself measures about 40 mm in diameter, whereas the outer case measures about 46 mm in diameter. The watch has a gorgeous hand pierced balance cock, squared "Egyptian" pillars, and a nice hand pierced ornament right near the fusee. The watch has the older "Tompion" style regulator which requires a key to operate. The movement is signed "Jos^h [Joseph] Brookes, London 5637". The dial and the hands are probably NOT original to the watch and may date from as late as 1830-1840.
