This watch was made by the American Waltham watch Company of Waltham, Massachusetts. It is a size 18, Model #1883. It has 15 jewels and is stem wind and pendant set. The serial number of 2761764 dates it to about 1886.

This watch has one unusual feature, which is the reason I bought it. Although the watch was clearly made by the Waltham Watch company, both the dial and the movement are actually marked "J.H. Washburn" and "Natick, Mass." J.H. Washburn was the name of a local jeweler from Natick, and his name was placed on the dial and movement at the Waltham factory itself. These are commonly referred to as "jobber" watches. But wait, there's more! The REALLY great thing is that Natick just happens to be the little town where I grew up! Needless to say, I just couldn't resist adding this watch to my collection....
